引退騒ぎが無かったように好調なJay-Zの年振りのアルバム。Blueprintシリーズとしては7年振りとなる。Def JamのPresident職も辞し、Artist主体の活動に戻ったようだ。Executive ProducerでもあるKanye WestとNo IDが中心にProduceし、サンプリング中心のオーソドックスなTrackが多いが、Timbalandも3曲提供していて、全体としては近年のエレクトロ、ボーダーレス志向の流れもおさえている。Jay-ZのRapもゴリゴリ押してくる感じでもなく、かえって聴き易くなった気もする。ただ、Guestは豪華だし、大物感漂う作品であることは間違いない。
