34歳のTenor奏者、Kamasi Washingtonのデビューリーダー作。ほとんどの曲で作曲、Produceもこなしている。3枚組、3時間弱、3部構成の超大作である。2ds,2b,kb,p,kbにHornを加えたバンドを基本に、曲によってはストリングスやVocalまで加わる大規模編成で、ほぼオリジナル曲によって構成されている。昨今のKendrick LamarやFlying Lotusとの共演で知られるようになったが、基本的には、ほぼJazz作品で、ColtraneやAlbert Ayler, Pharoah Sandersなどに影響されたスピリチュアルなJazzで、Kamasiのtsはなかなか豪快だ。とはいえ、曲はメロディアスであったり、リフがキャッチーであったりと、聴きやすい作品でもある。
