Kanye Westの5作目。前作は1種のコンセプトアルバムだったのに対し、今回は陰鬱な雰囲気を多少は引きずりつつ、方向性は3作目までの路線に戻っている。Rapパートは十分確保されているものの、PopやRackとの融合を、今まで以上に推し進めていて、唄も多くなっている。ジャンルやRap/唄の垣根など全く意識していないのだろう。また、金を時間をかけて作られただけあって、サウンドは相当凝っていて、Guestも豪華であり、すみずみまで聴く価値のある作品だ。
